......well, not necessarily, there is hope. A good night's sleep and/or a glass or two of refreshments can make the world of difference, and help put the world to rights along the way.
I've been succesful at every level of a typical project management hierarchy, for instance:
- I've managed an IT development department at NatWest that was involved at any one time with around a dozen projects running concurrently, I was managing about a dozen project managers and
development team leaders at the time, my department had about 50 permanent staff and as many again of freelancers and consultants.
- I also managed the global development team for Thomas Cook Financial Services supporting the IT systems for their globaöl range of finance products.
- I've sat on Project Boards for major software and infrastructure projects.
- I've managed projects of all sizes and complexity, including translating and transferring an organisations software systems to it's new owner's IT infrastructure, as well as delivering in-house
developed software and packaged products such as PeopleSoft.
- I've mentored in-house PMs as they've led upgrades to core software packages in major financial institutions such as the Deutsche Bundesbank.
- I've conducted "In-Flight" reviews of problem projects and provided direction and support in bringing those projects back onto a sound footing.
- I've implemented PCOs on individual projects and across organisations, including creating the related planning and control processes.
- I've provided Quality Assurance to Project Boards on the effectiveness of the project management taking place on their strategic projects.
- I've been a Team Leader, a Stage Manager, a Project Planner and half-a-dozen other role titles on many and varied projects.
- I've been a management consultant advising clients in all aspects of project management, and developed project management processes and techniques.
- I've created and taught Project Management training courses and spoken at PM seminars.
I've also been succesful at every level of a typical test management process, for instance:
- I've designed and created test cases, conditions, data and expected results, it doesn't get more basic than this.

- I've designed test strategies and plans for systems that supported complete end-to-end processes for businesses units and complete organisations

- I've managed the testing process for project test phases, including unit, technical process, business acceptance and implementation test phases.

- I've created and managed test management processes for error resolution and retesting procedures.
